Omoda C9 SUV Officially Enters Malaysian Market –  Jaecoo has just launched the Omoda C9 SUV in the Malaysian market. This model was previously introduced in prototype form last September. Omoda is a brand of Chery Automobile that specializes in marketing SUVs and crossovers. Although Jaecoo is part of Chery, its focus is more on premium class vehicles. The launch of this latest product aims to expand the domestic market segment.

rubiconraceteam – With dimensions of 4.7 m in length, 1.9 m in width, 1.6 m in height, and a wheelbase of 2.8 m, the C9 SUV offers a luggage capacity of 660 liters when the rear seats are installed, and can reach 1,783 liters with the seats folded. Its size puts it on par with the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro, Mercedes-Benz GLC, and Toyota Harrier, which are its main competitors.

The Omoda C9 is available in two drivetrain options: 2WD and AWD. Both are equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, which is capable of producing 261 horsepower and a maximum torque of 400 Nm. Power from this engine is channeled to the wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission.

This SUV has a distinctive design in the form of a diamond-shaped front grille and striking daytime running lights (DRL). The headlights use adaptive LEDs, while the taillights are also LED-based and equipped with automatic sensors for the rear doors.

Omoda C9 SUV Specifications

The Omoda C9 is built on a frame equipped with MacPherson suspension at the front and multi-link at the rear. For the AWD variant, there is an additional adaptive Continuous Damping Control (CDC) suspension, which is one of the superior features in the SUV segment in this price range.

This SUV uses 20-inch rims with a multi-spoke design and 245 / 50R20 tires, and is equipped with a full-size spare tire. For the 2WD variant, the brake calipers are silver, while the AWD variant has red calipers.

The 2WD variant offers three driving modes, while the AWD has four additional modes specifically designed for off-road use. Features on the AWD include electric doors equipped with buttons at the front and rear, similar to the system used on Tesla.

The Omoda C9 also offers adjustable ambient lighting, a 24.6-inch display combination, and a Sony audio system with 14 speakers, including an additional speaker in the driver’s headrest. Meanwhile, the 2WD variant is only equipped with eight speakers.

Comfort in the Omoda C9 is further enhanced by an air conditioning system (AC) that has three adjustable temperature zones. For the AWD variant, there is an additional fragrance system with three cartridges, allowing the driver to choose a scent via the infotainment touchscreen.

In terms of safety, the C9 SUV is equipped with various advanced features. Both variants offer ADAS Level 2. 5 technology, which includes adaptive cruise control, integrated cruise assist, traffic jam assistance, AEB, blind spot detection, forward collision warning, rear cross traffic warning, and various other accident prevention features.

Other Omoda C9 Features

Furthermore, other assistance features include open door warning, automatic headlights, and driver monitoring that provides a warning if you are drowsy.

In terms of active safety, there are features such as ABS, ESP, brake assist, EBD, traction control, and assistance when going up or down hills. The C9 is also equipped with multi-collision brakes, tire pressure monitoring, and speed limit reminders. For passive safety, this SUV has eight airbags, making it a safe and comfortable choice for drivers and passengers.

This car is available in three color choices: Carbon Crystal Black, Khaki White, and matte gray. Interestingly, the matte gray color is the first choice assembled in Malaysia, precisely at the Chery factory located in Shah Alam.

In terms of price, the C9 2WD variant is marketed at around IDR 600 million, while the AWD version is priced at around IDR 675 million. It should be noted that the price does not include insurance, administration, and various other additional costs.

In terms of aftersales, the Omoda C9 offers a seven-year warranty or up to 150,000 km.

For customers who are interested in having the Omoda C9, Jaecoo provides attractive benefits for the first purchase. They offer an additional 10-year or one million km warranty for engine and suspension components, in addition to the standard seven-year or 150,000 km warranty. However, this promotion is only valid for C9 orders made until December 8.

According to Jaecoo Malaysia, deliveries of the car are scheduled to begin in January 2025.
